Exposing the Brutal Truth About the WBS Company Scam in 2024: How I Escaped a Dangerous Trap

WBS COMPANY SCAM

One time, a man from my city called me and said that he could arrange a job for me. At that time, I didn’t have a job, so I agreed. He called me one day and the very next day told me to get ready to start the job, saying the salary would be between 30,000 to 35,000 rupees, and the job location was Khanapul, Islamabad. About the job, I was told that it was related to marketing or business. So, I agreed.

That man told me to bring my clothes and belongings with me, as I would be living in a hostel there. So, I packed everything. This man had been introduced to me through a reference. But perhaps neither I, my reference, nor that man knew what the actual condition of the job was and what matters were involved.

How the WBS Company Scam First Approached Me

Anyway, I got ready, and that man gave me the number of a person who would receive me there. I contacted him before leaving and told him I was coming. He told me to bring 6000 rupees along because the hostel fee for the whole month had to be deposited. So, I took the money with me. Until that point, I still hadn’t been clearly told about the real nature of the job or the company; I was only told that I would be received from Khanapul Islamabad.

I took my belongings and set off. That man guided me on the phone throughout the way. It was Friday. When I arrived, I was told to stand near a building, and I did. I had faith because I was going through a reference. I thought if I was being sent by a known person, it must be good.

As I stood near the building, two people came to receive me. One was the one I had been in contact with, and the other was a well-suited man. They received my bag and took me to the office with full protocol. The name of the company was WBS. There was security there who didn’t allow bags inside, so they kept my bag outside and took me in. They registered me and took my fingerprints on the hostel slip, which clearly mentioned that the money would not be refunded.

Then they gave me a form where it was written that following the rules was mandatory, including offering five daily prayers. The officer took my interview and told me to go to the hostel and rest, as my joining would start from the next day. Seeing the prayer condition made me even happier and increased my trust that it must be a good company that enforces prayers.

Again, with full protocol, they brought my bag and fed me VIP food courtesy of their team members. After eating, they led me through streets off the main road to the hostel, a four- to five-story building. Shoes were not allowed inside; they had to be removed on the ground floor. They made a card for me that I had to show upon entering and exiting.

They took me to the 4th floor, where there was a separate portion with a kitchen, bathroom, three rooms, and a balcony, but the hostel was mostly empty because most people were at the company. The man with me told me that we get good food morning and evening, and the company provides shampoos, soaps, and other necessary items in the hostel.

Until now, I was thinking that I was at a very good company. After a little while, my bed was arranged with a blanket, pillow, and everything else. That man stayed with me the whole day, looking after me. We lay down, and he started talking about his life and past experiences.

During the conversation, he mentioned that the company has its own doctor for employees and a gym as well. While talking, I asked him for the real name and work of the company, but he hesitated. That’s when I started getting suspicious.

Discovering the WBS Company Scam: When My Doubts Turned Into Fear

After a little while, I wrote “WBS” on Google Maps and checked the reviews. I realized it was a fraud company, and I was trapped. I started sweating, thinking about how I was on the 4th floor, running was not possible, and I had a heavy bag too.

I started panicking, but I didn’t give up. I told the boy that I don’t want to do this job and I want to go home (remember, my home was in another city). He started asking me why, what happened, why was I leaving? I told him he had lied to me, and I would never forgive him.

I picked up my bag and went down to the ground floor. The boy tried to stop me, but I was a bit healthy and he was weaker. When I got down, the guard told me that I couldn’t leave without the boss’s permission. I thought to myself that I was stuck in a very bad situation; if they stopped me, who knows what would happen next.

The fear made me sweat more, but I didn’t give up. The guard asked me to show my card and said he would call the boss to ask for permission. I said I would go by my own will and you are no one to stop me. I don’t need anyone’s permission.

Anyway, they called the boss. Hostel environments are already dark and dangerous, and now it was scaring me even more. They called the boss and gave me the phone to talk. The boss asked why I was leaving, what was the issue? I firmly said I just want to leave; I don’t want the job.

He said, okay, come to the office and we will clear your confusion. I said, no, I will not come to the office; I just want to leave. I gave the phone back to the boy, and the boss told him to bring me to the office.

When the boy tried to take me to the office, I said I wouldn’t go to the office, I would go home directly, and you cannot stop me. He grabbed me and tried to call the boss again. I snatched his phone and told him not to make any calls or it would be bad.

I immediately left for the main road, booked a Bykea ride, and escaped from there. I switched off my phone so they couldn’t call me again and told the boy that I would catch him on the Day of Judgment.

Until I left, the boy kept apologizing.

Alhamdulillah, I got out safely.

Inside the WBS Company Scam: How They Trap the Poor With False Promises

Later, when I researched the WBS company scam, I found out that they first lure poor and uneducated people by giving them full protocol, then take hostel fees from them. They conduct two days of training and then offer three package options to choose from, costing from Rs. 45,000 and above.

They make people sign documents that they cannot even read properly, and greed makes them sign and give fingerprints. Because of that, they become indebted to the company and cannot leave.

When they realize it’s a fraud, and ask for a refund, the company demands that they bring 10 or more people to get their money back. In this way, poor people—who often take loans or borrow money for the package—end up scamming more people just to get their own money back.

The rich can let it go, but the poor, who are already desperate, are forced into this ugly cycle.

Later, I realized that the man who received me was also trying to recover his own package money by bringing me into the scam. Had I fallen for it, he would have gotten his refund, and I would have been trapped, bringing more people to get my money back.

The moral is that sometimes trusting people, even close ones, can cost you heavily. Greed can lead to big losses.
